    • J.A. Waters It was fun to tie their disappointment together a little. I also like to think that they probably started feeding from each others feelings by this time. Not necessarily sharing them, but harmonizing and syncing up to some degree at the very least. And hooray, Cap to the rescue? Ish?

    • J.A. Waters I don't trust Kinnot, and I know exactly what it intends to do and why. But that's another story? Heh... Maybe one for next year. And it does still need Nuette for mutual survival, it's just getting to the point that its no longer patient enough to try gradual coercing. I think if she'd stayed on the Cylnai, or at least if things hadn't gotten to this messed up chaos, Kinnot would've been less hurried. But the offer of power and the closeness to great beings was too much to ignore. Kinnot was split from a god entity at one point, so it has a sense of being on equal grounds with gods and jumps at the chance to prove that. But... this group of chapters is where it gets the true sense of its standing in the world. And Gri-Yan-Thea is kinda obnoxiously neutral, the kind where it won't assist but will still jockey things into position based on what it deems as important. Like, kinda Captain Kirk's ability to follow the prime directive.

Nuette's definitely missing some not-so-subtle cues that all is not well here. Exit plan? Who needs an exit plan? I'm glad Lilou seems to be seeing the big picture. Maybe?

    • J.A. Waters This is where Nuette tries to ignore reality for a little bit. She just wants everything to snap back to the old days. After all, she found her parents. That's all that mattered, right? I'm glad that sense of "missing clues" came across because I definitely wanted it to seem like she was succumbing to some foolish hope in this case. Unfortunately, yeah, the rest of the world is moving on its terrible course whether she wants it to or not. But hooray for others that can keep focused!

    • J.A. Waters Haha, I actually never get tired of writing Wixie's rambling speech. It's totally fun and allows me to just ramble on myself. I usually go very stream of conscious on first write of her stuff, and then go back and try to make it a little more coherent. And yeah, wariness is good as you've seen already. Is getting your hopes up a bad thing at a certain point? Nothing is ever easy here.

I mean, honestly, it's Visiting a Magic Kingdom 101 that attacking people isn't going to go well for you. -- I loved the setting of peacock land, the mish-mash of peoples and places.

I was hearing the screechy shower music from Psycho the whole time during Viktor's story. Something really is off. What an odd burst of anger from Torias, though. All the family flashbacks, maybe?

    • Ryan Watt It is also how being a teenager works, and unfortunately as mature as he is, Oleg is still a teenager. - There really is a greek myth where Hephaestus (I think( gifts Hera peacocks to win her favor in his marriage suit. Ugh, arranged marriages. Why peacocks were used in greek myth, I do not know! -- And yeah, after Taree's troubles, I wanted to give her a win, but I also wanted to have the others be working towards finding the adytum as well. -- Thanks for reading!

    • Jennifer Flath The whole "Hera's eyes" thing seemed straight out of a story I'd never heard. I may not be able to look at peacocks again without feeling like they're watching me. Happy 150th!

    • Ryan Watt The other fun thing is: King Joao and Princess Belinha both come from a Portuguese-esque kingdom. The day I spent hours trying to justify linking Portugal to peacocks, three friends of mine, who happened to be on vacation in portugal, posted photos online of peacocks hanging around an old castle.
