Ha, it's awesome that the maid's note just wasn't seen :) Sounds like there's no actual issue after all? That's fun.

    • Ryan Watt Yeah, the important thing here was not the job, but how it lets us explore Jorinda's personality. Plus, nice to have an unexpected ending.

Volume 3 is really giving Jorinda a chance to shine :D I like her a lot! I love her emerging skill, too.

    • Ryan Watt Funny you say that. I want to keep Flocked mostly about the core 5, but I also want to make sure the guild grows and changes. So I stuck in some stuff for Jorinda and Kess to do, although they wont be the central cast, in my mind. Glad you like her. She was an interesting discovery of mine.

Ohhhh now I see! She wasn't upset because she was down a servant the day before a party! She was upset because there was no way this servant would run off the day before a party!

    • Ryan Watt The lady does care about her employee, as far as she can. She thinks that being concerned that things will go wrong without her servant is a sign of how much she values and cares for her. So it's pretty privileged and screwed up. As for the Gryphon....

    • Ryan Watt Yay! You finished Vol 2. Awesome. So exciting. Thank you. And yeah. I decided I didnt know enough about rollers to feel like I could get a good beat on them, and Kess needed a big makeover for his new self.

    • Laura Morrison Thanks for your thoughts! So, here are my general ideas for whenever I get around to editing this: I'm going to add a few Meio scenes (a desert escape attempt, a scene where she gets to the castle/fortress and gets locked up, and probably something else). I'll probably try to finagle getting her/Del or her/Soren a communication device so they're still interacting, too. And instead of a book 2, I throw all concern for acceptable publishing length to the winds and have the Del rescue (or failure) as the actual ending. Still maybe a book 2 in future, but a much more tied up book 1.

    • Richard Mackey Personally I kind of like the cliffhanger if it means a book 2. After all, there are a lot more loose ends to tie up than just Meio.

    • Laura Morrison Aw thanks! Wow, it's been ages since I've had a comment on this story :) And ooh, you finished the whole thing! Awesome. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I am definitely going to be writing more once I've finished up some other projects. I did try the publishing route, but while I got a bit of agent interest, no one was interested enough to actually decide to represent me. In the end, it's cool though since I don't think I could relinquish control of these chracters. I love them too much. I'm going to self-publish eventually, and I do also have some artsy, handbound copies on my Etsy page (I'm a bookbinder too)! Thanks again for reading! It's always so nice when a person sticks with it for the long haul.

So much yes. This play has been really well thought through. The revolutionaries are going to be thrilled about this.

In a book full of schemers and double crossers and people who plan for a living, it is nice that they can still surprise each other. Great way of showcasing Ingan's master-class level scheming.

    • Laura Morrison I love/hate Ingan a lot. She's on the side I think is right(er), but she and Geir are opposite sides of the same coin in so many ways. They're way too similar for their own goods.
