Solid transition chapter, deftly working emerging plot strands. I'm ready for the next! Rome's got a bridge to build, pants (or togas) are on fire, and Fulvio's murder needs avenging. Let's go!

Tender, beautiful writing. A perfect send off for Fulvio and a new window into our narrator. Yes, our, because you make the prose so personal, so present, so shared. ... Show More

    • T. Phillips Holland Thank you very much. I'm glad Tiberius comes across as "our" narrator. Can't tell you how much it means that he is. Be forwarned that he's got a lot of animosity toward some specific groups coming up.

The descriptive writing here, not only painting a picture but also conveying the emotion of loss, is about as good as it gets. We feel the end coming for Fulvio before it ... Show More

    • T. Phillips Holland Thank you very much. Sudden loss is something I actually didn't have to research for this story. Happy that the experience can be turned into art that works. I totally appreciate your kindness about how it comes across.

    • J. Spinazzola That's the power of art. And hopefully, by the end, it provides catharsis and ultimately peace for writer and readers alike. Seems like that's the road you're traveling, and something tells we are all bearing witness to the makings of a masterpiece.

    • T. Phillips Holland As Tiberius would say, "Holy [*****]." I doubt I can live up to that, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and confidence in my writing. Also, please know that Tiberius has a few hard-to-swallow attributes -- especially in the form of religious/political judgments against others -- that will come to play in subsequent chapters . . . .
